Afro Caribbean Treats

Afro Caribbean Treats

The islands of the Caribbean were inhabited by their indigenous inhabitants, the Taino and Caribs. When Christopher Columbus discovered the New World. With the arrival of Columbus, the influence of Europeans on the islands began. Shortly afterwards, millions of slaves were shipped from Africa to work on the sugar plantations of the Caribbean islands. They brought their food and culture with them.

So it is no wonder that Afro-Caribbean cuisine has its roots in many cultures, African, European-American and Indian. Nevertheless, the region has developed its own identity and given it an unmistakable flair. The Afro-Caribbean culture emerged from this mixture of cultures. A unique ethnic group with its own culture, food and values.
